I seek the threshold of fantasy and reality, and blur the divide between dreams and consciousness. As a digital painter, it is my goal to depict my thoughts, emotions and visions as honestly and purely as possible. I work with a Wacom tablet and draw visual inspiration from graffiti, fantasy, comics and portraiture to achieve a high-energy aesthetic in my art.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I seek the threshold of fantasy and reality, and blur the divide between dreams and consciousness.

It is in this intersection that I am able to channel my imagination through the voice I have developed over the past 11 years as an artist. In that time I have drawn visual inspiration from portraiture, graffiti, comics, and fantasy while using experiences and emotions to give my work additional layers of depth.

The Images in this series are a culmination of every skipped heartbeat, and every butterfly that ever wished to escape my body.  Each portrait attempts to capture the energy and novelty of my friends through my use of line and colour.  My method of painting aims to showcase what a camera, sketch, or glance might miss. I wish interpret what I personally see and experience when I am with these people. It is my hope that others may experience the same feelings of friendship, fear, love and confusion that I have experienced when creating each piece.

As a digital painter, it is my goal to depict my emotions and visions as honestly and purely as possible. To do this, I often paint to the point that my body goes numb and my physical form seems to fade away. It is then - once I have escaped to this dreamworld and surrendered to my imagination, that I feel the most real.

And there is nowhere else I would rather be.
